“Each shift makes more shifts possible. But only if we go actively toward the possibilities rather than passively into the collapse.” – Rebecca Solnit
Dear Academy Friends and Supporters,
Here we are at the end of May! We feel a growing optimism looking towards summer as vaccines continue to impact the case counts in the US and other nations, and life slowly but surely starts to return to some sense of normalcy.
There is still a tremendous amount of work to accomplish before we can call the pandemic over, as cases are still rampant in some corners of the world, but we are hopeful that the international community will come together to support nations with slim economic resources with infusions of vaccines and logistical organization needed to bring COVID into lasting control. That said, where we sit in California, we are thrilled to have employees back at the office, to be enjoying restaurant meals or even getting a haircut. More than anything, it feels great to hug our friends and extended family members again!
On the Academy front, there is much exciting to report. In this month’s newsletter, we included fantastic news from Academy Fellow David Gerson and the Cool City Challenge; a recap of Rinaldo S. Brutoco’s Perspectives Column; you can also tap our special edition of the New Business Paradigm podcast. Also, please check out an excerpt from Freedom from Mideast Oil on the Hydrogen Revolution that can help put the current excitement about this essential fuel into perspective. Our sustainable development project, the Deer Ridge Golf Club, also made the news!
And last but not least, we also just wrapped up putting together our Perspectives 2020 book – a compilation of the Perspectives Column from March 2020 to February 2021. If you would like a copy, please let us know and we can get you a physical or an e-book version depending on your preference!
Enjoy!
