We are grateful to have enjoyed the company of our close family and friends at our annual Gratitude Gathering. This year, in addition to thanking our friends and supporters for a fantastic year of active participation, we celebrated independent journalism, both in our local community and throughout the world. Given the fragile state of our democratic institutions, the independent role of media as the fourth estate has never been more crucial, and public support of honest, objective reporting could determine the survival of our democracy. As disinformation and hyperbole spin out of control, we are grateful for the responsible and courageous journalists and editors who adhere to the facts and speak “truth to power.”
Between the delicious food and the delightful conversation, the staff put together a short “performance” explaining the Academy’s mission: to shift the consciousness of existing business leadership from that of a predator to that of a steward, to shift the consciousness of young people going into business, and to shift the consciousness of the public at large to put its money where its deep values are. Following this explanation, Founder and President Rinaldo Brutoco spoke about some of the many organizations that the Academy has been lucky enough to work with and support since 1986.
The dedication and support we have received make us even more excited for all that we will do in 2020, including continuing current projects such as Solutions News and the Global Citizens Club, and beginning several new ones.
