An update on our Fellow, Ravi Chaudhry.
Since the World Business Academy’s founding, we have been consistently supported by our dynamic team of Fellows. It is our continued goal to leverage and catalyze the ideas of our Fellows as they do for us.
We are pleased to share an update on Academy Fellow Ravi Chaudhry. A former chairman of Tata Group companies, Ravi is an author, speaker, advisor and mentor to CEOs, Corporate Boards, and governments. As Founder Chairman of Cenext Consulting Group, his singular focus is to foster a new edifice of responsible leadership and responsible entrepreneurship in business and society. For more on Ravi’s biography, see his Fellows page here.
For him, good governance is not about whether an institution is following the laws or not; good governance is about what an institution does, beyond the laws. In a recent article for Salzburg Global Forum, he makes a compelling case that “It is time to change the narrative from “corporate governance” to “governance of the corporation.” Beyond corporate compliance to corporate character. Beyond making money to “how money is made.”
He regularly leads Board Retreats and Leadership Workshops on revamping strategy and coping with the future. His most popular global program, “Shape your Future before it Shapes You”, is designed to empower the leadership teams to comprehend and face the new realities, break out of the gravitational pull of the past prejudices, and discover the dormant strengths within oneself to be a better person and a better leader. He emphasizes that “your future and the future of your organization cannot depend on what happens; your future is steered by the choices you make today”. For that, he relentlessly reiterates the vital necessity to ask the right questions before seeking the answers.
His recent Interview with a European Magazine is full of great nuggets of wisdom and inspiration, as he candidly shares his beliefs and values. One of his earliest learnings is a 24-word maxim that still continues to shape his life and work: “Live each day as if this is the last day of your life, but keep learning every day as if you will live forever.” Responding to a question on the five most important attributes in a person, he humbly mentioned the presence of three C‟s and absence of two A‟s: Presence of Compassion, Curiosity, and Clarity, and Absence of Arrogance and Anger.
He is presently writing a new book on issues relating to ‘Reinventing Democracy and Leadership’. He identifies the miraculous beams of light that are driving change – the ones emanating from a rapidly-growing mass of civil society and business leaders and new groups of volunteers miraculously sprouting all over the world. “These are the people determined to demolish the Coronas of today and tomorrow – the millions of new heroes embracing this 13-word unambiguous message: The obstacles to containing the Coronas lie not outside, but within our hearts.”
