Committed to cultivating conscious awareness in leadership for over three decades, Karen partners with leaders and their organizations over many years as they develop wise leadership – the skills, strategies, and presence to cultivate committed performance and effectively drive change. Leaders and their teams expand their rich potential, create sustainable enterprises and establish cooperative partnerships that promote the common good through Karen’s company, Communicore, which provides consultation, coaching and training.
Karen’s passion is designing focused dialogue that results in meaningful action. She convenes women’s leadership retreats in Hawaii and online wisdom retreats on living love through leadership. Based on the highly successful Women’s Forums at the June 2003 Spirit in Business Global Conference in San Francisco and the WBA Global Conference in 2004, she has convened US and European forums to bring together leaders effectively working toward a sustainable, caring and regenerative world.
In 1989 Karen co-organized and facilitated an International Conference on Intuition in Business sponsored by the World Business Academy and the International Management Institute, Geneva, Switzerland. In 2002 and 2003 Karen moderated the leading-edge Spirit in Business Global Conferences bringing together business and community leaders, spiritual teachers, and academics to explore the boundaries and relevance of spirit and wisdom in business.
Karen received the first Annual Willis Harman Award in 1990 for her outstanding contribution as a Fellow of the Academy.
A published author and experienced speaker on wisdom in leadership, personal transformation, and managing complex change, her work facilitates breakthroughs in leaders, key meetings, and across organizations – from multi-nationals to government systems to privately held companies to non-profits and communities. Karen’s work on organizational change and spirit-filled leadership has been published in many professional journals and books, including Transforming Work and Transforming Leadership, edited by John D. Adams, (also a WBA Fellow) 1984 and 1986, re-published in 1998. The Washington Post called each “A classic in its field.”
Karen’s bi-monthly blog explores timely topics and proven strategies around wise leadership, women leaders, managing change, and small business coaching.
Karen is an active participant in a number of professional associations including:

- And has been a Fellow with the World Business Academy since 1987 when Willis Harman personally invited her to join.
Because of a passion for spirit-based whole-child education Karen co-founded the GreenWood School in Mill Valley, California, in 1992, an innovative Waldorf inspired elementary school.
Friends, collaborators, gardening, hiking Mt. Tamalpais, and rolling out a yoga mat bring her great joy along with adventuring with her two adult children and their mates, her husband, and big red fluffy dog.
