Take a stand for climate justice and support clean energy by joining the World Business Academy and thousands of supporters as we rally in Santa Barbara – and in cities worldwide – on Saturday, April 29.

The Santa Barbara People’s Climate Rally will be held at noon at Santa Barbara City College’s La Playa Stadium, 100 Loma Alta Dr. The rally will be followed at 1:30 p.m. by a march to Ledbetter Beach. Please join us!
The World Business Academy joins a coalition of environmentalists, members of the faith community, students, workers, small businesses and concerned citizens all seeking to take a stand for climate justice and a clean energy economy with 100 percent renewable energy.
Let’s send a strong message to the Trump administration, which wants to back out of our international climate agreements and increase oil drilling.

“The rest of the world understands the urgency of our climate crisis. While so-called leaders in our federal government choose to bury their heads in the sand, people of every background are leading an unprecedented intersectional movement for justice,” said Matt Renner, Executive Director of the World Business Academy.
“We focus today on the critical goal of replacing the fossil fuel economy with a 100 percent renewable and distributed energy system. We will not be stopped or even slowed down by the intransigence of the old world order, instead a movement of humans committed to justice will continue to rise. And, empowered by the legacy of those that came before us, by the dreams of all of our ancestors, we will dissolve the barriers to progress and plant the seeds of our children’s and our grandchildren’s future,” Renner said.
Beginning at noon, attendees will hear testimonials from individuals and small businesses affected by climate change. There will be a Chumash blessing on the ocean and our coast. Speakers and participants will include County Supervisor Das Williams and various musicians. Throughout the rally, organizers will collect postcards to be sent to the County Board of Supervisors opposing new oil development in Santa Barbara County, so don’t forget to fill out a postcard.
At the beach, participants will form a human sign with colored cards to renew our pledge to the planet. This will be photographed aerially and publicized as a message of hope from Santa Barbara to the rest of the world that we are committed to clean energy and climate justice.
On the same day, people will rally and march in other cities, including Washington, D.C., to pressure the Trump Administration and Congress to protect our planet, our communities and work toward a renewable energy future. But you don’t have to travel to the nation’s capital to make your voice heard. Come to the local rally on April 29 and help make our community cleaner, right here at home.
