“Don’t even talk to me until I get my paycheck”
Recorded on January 25, 2019
On the first show of the new year, Rinaldo and Kristy cover a forecast for the United States and the global economy. From slowing Chinese growth numbers, to a murky situation in Venezuela with surprising geopolitical consequences, and the disastrous calamity that is Brexit, it is clear that 2019 will take a toll on countries across the world. Yet before focusing abroad, Rinaldo explains why the real problems that need solving are happening here at home.
The main story focuses on the ludicrous shuttering of a large part of the U.S. government and who’s really responsible for this longest shutdown in the country’s history (hint – it isn’t the Democrats). It’s been a disaster for the US federal workforce, for the middle class more broadly, and has further weakened confidence in the US both at home and abroad. Clearly, the supposedly ‘booming economy’ is running on empty, as the middle class continues to feel squeezed and its resiliency withers. While the shutdown ended as Rinaldo and Kristy were wrapping up the show, the detrimental effects of this ill-conceived buffoonery will reverberate for years to come.
On the flip side, Rinaldo and Kristy also announce details of the new weekly radio show “Solutions News”, live Fridays from 5-6PM PST, with recorded replays over the weekend, and podcasts posted on Mondays. E-mail them at [email protected] for more ways to listen.
