The World Business Academy’s newest project, “Solutions News” with host Rinaldo Brutoco, has hit the ground running! Each week, the show offers listeners inspiring ideas, new solutions and clever strategies to solve the local, national and global challenges we face each day. We also feature interviews with solutions thinkers from various fields who are courageously fighting to make this world work better for all of us. At a time when many people have become disillusioned and cynical about the state of our nation, and the world, Solutions News helps shift the conversation. We believe that a weekly dose of optimism is the best antidote to the pessimism that’s sweeping our nation.
Since the launching of the “Solution News” radio broadcast back in January 2019, we have had the pleasure to talk with fascinating people dedicated to finding solutions. Like Margaret Klein Salamon, Executive Director of The Climate Mobilization, who is working to initiate a WWII-scale mobilization that would rapidly transform our economy to protect humanity and the living world. Congressman Salud Carbajal joined us in the studio in February and joked that the show that week ought to be “Saludtions News”. A longtime advocate for our environment, he was recently appointed Vice-chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. With that in mind, we talked to Salud about how the Ports of Long Beach and LA are becoming ground zero for testing out new zero-emissions trucks. Another champion for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is Santa Barbara County 1st District Supervisor, Das Williams. We talked with Das about dealing with a water scare world, and the importance of embracing a system that conserves and reuses water that has run off. And we can’t forget to mention Rose Strauss, UCSB student and climate change activist with the Sunrise Movement, who gained notoriety when a video of an exchange she had with a politician who called her “young and naïve” went viral in 2018. That was a wonderful and inspiring interview.
