The World Business Academy is thrilled to welcome Merryl Snow Zegar to the Board of Directors. Zegar’s legal background coupled with her more recent work in philanthropy focusing in the areas of environmental action, justice, and human rights, as well as arts and culture in both New York City and Santa Barbara, make her a welcome addition to the Academy’s Board of Directors.
Zegar, a graduate of the University of Connecticut and Fordham Law School, practiced law at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in New York City before serving as Deputy General Counsel at Bank Leumi Trust Company of New York and then Associate General Counsel of the Dime Savings Bank of New York. She was later an Administrative Law Judge for the City of New York, and taught banking law to non-lawyers at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Zegar is currently the Executive Director and a Trustee of the Zegar Family Foundation founded with her husband Chuck.
Merryl and Chuck are bicoastal, residing in both Montecito and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. In NYC, Merryl serves as co-chair of the Board of Trustees of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, and on the Emeritus Board member of New York’s City Center, In Santa Barbara, Merryl is a board member of the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts, (commonly called the Grenada Theater) and also serves on the Executive Council of the Arts and Lectures program at the University of California Santa Barbara.
